Software Engineer
Why this matters
Chip design is slow, siloed, and often constrained by outdated workflows. At Cognichip, you’ll help build the AI-native tools that change that. From blazing-fast simulations to human-in-the-loop design automation, software systems you build will directly power the next era of semiconductor design innovation. This is your chance to engineer systems that engineers will love.
What you'll do (choose your path)
If you lean backend:
- Architect and build cloud-native systems that connect AI models, chip design tools, and scalable data infrastructure.
- Design distributed systems for compute-intensive workflows with high availability, low latency, and fault tolerance.
- Build high-throughput data pipelines and backend services for AI, simulation, and chip design automation.
- Implement infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth deployment and operations at scale.
If you lean frontend:
- Build a next-generation IDE for chip designers, extending and customizing open-source frameworks like VS Code.
- Design intuitive, high-performance UIs to visualize complex data, control workflows, and interact with AI at the edge in real time.
- Collaborate with backend and AI teams to create seamless and responsive user experiences across the platform.
- Push the limits of modern TypeScript to deliver a snappy, powerful design experience.
What You Bring
- 3+ years of professional software development experience, with deep expertise in either backend or frontend systems.
- A track record of designing and building systems at scale, with a focus on performance, resilience, and usability.
- Strong coding skills in relevant languages (e.g., Go, Python for backend; TypeScript for frontend).
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work across disciplines to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Passion for building tools that make other engineers more effective.
Bonus Points
- Domain knowledge in semiconductors or electrical engineering.
- Experience deploying or optimizing LLMs (Large Language Models).
- Prior success scaling engineering teams in a startup environment.
- Background in high-performance computing or physics simulation.
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills.
